Balance, Contrast and Harmony

Balance: The first thing that comes to mind when I think about the balance of this photo is how symmetrical it is. The colorful sky reflects beautifully off of the water. At the same time the reflection in the water brings a whole new way of viewing the sky as it adds texture from the debris or mud that is in the water.

Contrast: This rust orange color is similar to the color of the sky when the sun is either rising or setting, it can be seen at dawn or just before night fall. With that being said, looking at this photograph almost makes you feel like you're lost in time. Is the day starting or is it ending? I think it's quite fascinating.

Harmony: Between the contrast and the balance, I would agree that the photograph would be an explicit example of harmony. The reflection of the sky in the water give you a sense of peace. And as you look out into the distance it makes you wonder what else is beyond the horizon. It's almost as if you were placed right into the photograph, looking into the distance from the shore.

Visceral Response

No matter what mood I'm in nor the time of day, this little ray of sunshine instantly brightens every aspect of my day. Her name is Aviana, she is 6 months old,  and she is my precious little niece. Unfortunately, she and my sister live all the way in Pennsylvania and I have yet to meet her in person. So I am limited to pictures, telephone calls and Skype sessions. Every time my sister sends me a picture I automatically feel a sense of peace. This may sound awful but when it comes to babies I'm  usually the last person who wants to hold them or entertain them. I'm really weird about it. But when it comes to Aviana that's all I think about. No other child has made me feel the way she does. I get lost in the moment as I gaze into her big brown eyes (top right). Her smile is contagious especially when you notice how her cute little button nose rises as she laughs (bottom left). After analyzing these four images, one word I think of is simply 'precious'.  I am captivated by her innocence and purity.
